Rick Hillegas commented on DERBY-6945: -------------------------------------- Attaching derby-6945-29-aa-disable-SimpleApp-test.diff. This patch removes SimpleApp from the derby tests until DERBY-6995 is addressed. Tests passed cleanly for me with this patch. When I wired together a module path for running an ij script, I discovered that the testing module, although it compiled cleanly, was not fit for runtime use. That is because derbyTesting.jar contained SimpleApp, a class which lives in the root directory of the package space. It seems that module-info.class is the only class which can live in the root directory. In retrospect, I suppose that makes sense, given that the root package is the only class-bearing package shared across more than one module. That means that the demo classes which live in the root directory (SimpleApp and the workingwithderby classes) will need to move into more refined packages. And it means that we cannot run tests with a modulepath as long as SimpleApp lives in the root package. When we finish work on DERBY-6995, we can revive this test.
