Sorry for the delay, I'm not keeping as close an eye as I had been on
the mailing list.
As for several concerns brought up...
1. It is my intention to donate all the code for this implementation to
the ASF, I don't particularly care about any copyright on it. Anyone can
use it :)
2. The copyrights in the files were copied from some other derby files
and I should have brought them up to date, my bad. All code contributed
was coded by myself over the last year.
3. The implementation as is works with the majority of the derbyall
suite with a few problems I couldnt track down. This was accomplished
by hardcoding MemoryStorageFactory as the storagefactory for the
directory subsubprotocol. This is obviously a suboptimal solution but
it does work. Any suggestions on a more generic way to test this?
4. As for a functional spec, some of my thesis may not be too bad for
some it.
Any suggestions as to what I can try to do withing the next few days to
get this goin?

I agree that this can't be accepted without further work, but at least
we can take what he's given us. I suspect Stephen won't have time to do
the tests or functional spec, but perhaps someone with an itch can get
that done. The good news is that that someone is no longer blocked from
using his code.

Great news! Let's hope we can get all the loose ends tied up and get
this contributed!

As anyone tested this, other than the author? Dan seemed to have raised
some important concerns. Anyone with itch to follow up this work needs
to investigate more, address those concerns and try running all tests.
Also would be good to writeup a design or functional spec and get that
reviewed.

I agree with you. One goal of this work was to hopefully bring the
code to
submission level, so we didn't complete the forms until the code
looked
good enough to contribute. I was able to contact Stephen, and he
submitted
the ICLA forms by fax back in March. Hopefully they are on file
somewhere,
or he will have to submit them again. I've contacted him and asked
him to
finish up what is needed so that the code can be submitted to the
tree.
Hopefully this will happen soon.
LOL. Yes, it's on file:

Down at the bottom. Should have checked there to begin with. Thanks,
Darcy. Sorry for all the noise.
