Hi, Dain. We met at OSCON and you gave some great feedback about Derby
performance, particularly its startup time.
I have opened a JIRA about this
(http://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/DERBY-1664), which is generating
some healthy discussion (see http://tinyurl.com/o5uau). As usual, it's
very hard to quantify "too slow" and to create a reliable test case.
It would be great if you could weigh in on exactly where you were seeing
this and what kind of behavior you were seeing, to help us focus our own
investigation. Also, if there are others you have talked to about
this, please ask them to chime in too. The more information we can get
about this the better.
