It might be helpful to add a link to http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbySnapshotOrRelease as the higher level writeup on what needs to be done for releases.
I've added the link. FYI - it might be worthwhile to explain what at "snapshot" is. I am assuming that it is not related to the Alpha version of the docs and that a snapshot is used as a candidate release? Others might not understand the difference between snapshot and release either. -- Laura Stewart
