ClobStreamControl issues (Embedded) - any experts?

I think the class ClobStreamControl has a number of issues related to 
DERBY-2618. I'd appreciate it if any one who knows the code well could 
look at the patch & comments in DERBY-2618. It seems to me that there 
are a number of code bugs that cause the problems in DERBY-2618 (and 
maybe others) but I'd like verification from others as I'm seeing this 
code for the first time.
