Mike Matrigali updated DERBY-3344:
----------------------------------

The error message listed above usually means that a different error happened,
which the store considered server severity level.
In this case the store "null's" out the reference to the log writer so that no
other updates to the database can happen. Derby does not
have a well supported coordinated shutdown across all modules in case of error
and in particular in store there may be async threads that are not even
associated with user threads to deliver the error message on. So if at all
possible include a copy of the
derby.log that contains the list "LogRecord" error, most likely the log if it
exists will contain the "real" error preceding this error.

Unfortunately i have seen many times in the junit suites that the derby.log
gets overwritten and/or deleted by subsequent tests so
there is nothing after the fact to look at to know what was happenning.
Particularly frustrating in intermittent failures like this.

> Error in testNegValueSupportedLogRecord in ugrade test - caused by EOF
> Exception in store in 10.3

> Issue Type: Bug
> Affects Versions: 10.3.2.2
> Environment: Windows XP - ibm 15 jvm (build pwi32devifx-20070725
> (SR5a))

>
> I saw this failure first with 10.3 built to revision 613346, then with
> revision 614104 ran fine, but then I saw this again with revision 614411.
> Historic data shows 3 more failures with this test, but in those cases more
> upgrade tests failed and it appeared there were disk full problems.
> The full stack trace from the suites. All for the test is:
> testNegValueSupportedLogRecord(org.apache.derbyTesting.functionTests.tests.upgradeTests.Changes10_3)java.sql.SQLException:
> Log Record has been sent to the stream, but it cannot be applied to the
> store (Object null). This may cause recovery problems also.
