You wrote that removing c3p0 reduced the frequency of the corruption. Is it just reduced, or has it gone away completely?
If it still happens, are you getting the same stack trace? Is the corruption still on page 0?If you have have possibility to try out the latest release candidate for 10.4, I would suggest doing that. A fix went in for a possibly related bug, where page 0 was corrupted.
