I did some checking and AFAICT this step is neither mentioned on http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbySnapshotOrRelease nor on http://db.apache.org/derby/manuals/docscheck.html It seems like a natural item on the checklist for creating a new release... -- dt
