Thanks Lily, that's a very useful observation! The query has been executed 12
times at the point of the failing assert. So it seems like in the good case the
query is recompiled after the tenth execution (the test runs with
derby.language.stalePlanCheckInterval=10, so that sounds reasonable). In the
failing case, however, no recompilation has happened, and all 12 executions
have used the same plan.
