Hello Derby Developers,

I would like to release manage a 10.8 maintenance release, Derby 10.8.3. I put proposed dates at:
http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyTenEightThreeRelease

This would give us a bit more than a month of focused bug fixing before the release candidate October 22 and then hopefully get the release out November 5, well before the holidays begin. Does that sound agreeable to everyone?

We already have 64 fixes in 10.8 since 10.8.2 but it would be great to really focus on bugfixing over the next month to get even more. The bug fixing effort can also benefit a 10.9 maintenance release hopefully shortly there after if we get a release manager volunteer. I am going to announce some sort of contest involving chocolate for our most valuable bug fixer, details TBA.

To help prioritize for bug fixing I set up a DerbyTenTenBugTriage page so we can get at least the untriaged bugs triaged and identify any new high value fix candidates for the release. This is at: http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/DerbyTenTenBugTriage. Please pick up a a block of bugs to triage and make sure you add ones you think would be valuable fixes for the release to the high value fix candidates list.

Happy Fixing !

Kathey
