I ran your JUnit test case from

under Eclipse and it passed successfully, did not see any failures.
The derby.jar I have is - 10.1.1.0 - (208786) (which is the Apache release)
Your sysinfo output can shed some light on the Derby jar versions you have.

Looks like the same as DERBY-217 which is meant to be fixed in 10.1.1.0
including test cases.
