What's a "favicon"?

David

A favicon is a very small graphic file that is associated with a web site. A browser will usually display it in the upper left corner of a page or tab window. The resolution of a favicon is usually 16 by 16 pixels.

The Google favicon is a blue capital G in a white square with a colored border. Any modern browser should display it.

We should consider whether it's a requirement for the Derby logo to work as a favicon. The small size and limited number of pixels means that not all designs will look good as favicons.

BTW, it's also worth thinking about what a logo will look like in black and white, in case someone ever wants to do a large print run (color printing is expensive).
