I think that the search window on the Derby site is a great way to find out about general topics and capabilities and a good place to start before posting to derby-user. In the search window on http://db.apache.org/derby/ I typed "sql dump". The first hit was for dblook which looks promising for what you are trying to do. Hope that helps. For your next question, give the search window a shot first, then post to derby-user if it doesn't come up with the results you need.
