The Derby charter[1] states that there is ODBC support in derby. Is this still the case or has it fallen out of use? Searching gives an IBM article from 2004 and not much else. Does anyone use Derby with ODBC in production?

Hi Ivan,

You can connect to Derby from a C/PHP/Python client using the Derby network client plus an ODBC to JDBC bridge. Derby distributions supply the network client but not the bridge. Some commercial ODBC to JDBC bridges are listed here: http://wiki.apache.org/db-derby/UsesOfDerby#Products_By_Type Full disclosure: I have never used any of these products.

Hope this helps,
