The proposed menu seems less logical than the current menu, categorized by subjective usage rather than context. It's especially concerning that "Picture..." and "Picture from Scan..." are separated and "Page Break" and "Manual Break..." are separated. I'd also advise against an "Advanced" submenu, as it makes finding commands even harder. I'm also doubtful that the new order reflects the general usage. "LO Spreadsheet", "LO Drawing", etc. are now featured quite prominently, yet, from my own experience, these are used quite rarely. I do like the idea of getting rid of the "Horizontal rule" dialog. What might be a good step forward is if we have a "File..." item that would allow the user to choose any type of file from his disk -- a picture, a movie, some sound, an OLE object, ... iWork does something similar -- it has a "Choose..." button [1]. This would allow us to consolidate "Insert Picture...", "Movie and Sound...", and "File..." into a single button.
