(One small nitpick: Would it be possible to have the color label turn white when on a dark background?) > > > Start by clicking on the red rectangle in the fake toolbar. > > You can click everywhere, except when something gets dimmed : it means > it's just an image without interaction). > > Here are the complete files (GPLv3 licence) : > http://michel.renon.free.fr/**libreoffice/colorpicker_** > 20121112/proto-color-picker_**r11.zip<http://michel.renon.free.fr/libreoffice/colorpicker_20121112/proto-color-picker_r11.zip> > > > > IMHO, the rect that shows the current color should not be at the bottom, > because of height changes ; it doesn't respect consistency. > The box is at the bottom because: a) it serves as somewhat of a status bar, which has always been placed at the bottom b) if it's put at the top, it takes longer to access the clickable elements in the pop-up (Fitts's law) It's ok that its position changes, because when switching to a different category, the user should focus on the new contents that category brings, not on the color preview, as the color preview doesn't change. Only after he sets a new color does he need to see the preview. Also, the preview is not actionable, so the danger of error brought by moving targets is not applicable here. If you have a better solution, though, feel free to make a mockup :). And why not simply write the name of color beside the rect ? What would be the advantage? Do you mean to put it in the sidebar, or to decrease the size of the color preview and put the label next to it? If it's the former, then the reason why not put the color in the sidebar is simply so that there is more space for palettes in the sidebar. If it's the latter, then that would mean decreasing the available space for both the label and the color, which means that the previewed color wouldn't stand out as much and that it would be harder to fit in longer labels. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/design/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
