I totally agree with Jean-François. The sidebar is a bad choice, it
encourages the user to do direct formatting and to perpetuate the bad
behaviors inherited from concurrent office suite.

I always try to show LO users how to escape from these bad direct formatting
behaviors and to concentrate on their work and content instead of the icy
around the cake... LO has the right design to do a decent work-flow if you
don't try to mimic another suite (and perpetuate the 1850 writing machine
behavior).
