(I cleaned up the misspelling just for readability) Leppy: Hello I have a question/problem I'm trying to import/export(sync) my basecamp account with chandler and I'm able to mozilla calendar or apple iCal but it doesnt work with chandler i was wondering if i could get some help? Priss: You mentioned you use Mozilla/iCal, do you regularly use electronic calendars? Or are you a dev dabbling on how it's built? I really don't know... I installed the mozilla calendar yesterday and trying to figuring out how it works the only function I miss is the one to share my calenday with my friends >ic. What are you having trouble with exactly, what have you tried using to communicate with your friends? well, with chandler I have a free account with them so I can share my calendar with them but in sunbird I think I need to have a server or something I don't really know how that works so i may have to find that out if I want to use it yes well I want to share my calendar with my busniess parnters as well so they can book an appointment and stuff so we can communication a little bit better. and also I have an account with basecamphq and it works with mozilla calendar but the only thing with it is I cannot share my calendar >Could I ask you to clarify what you're doing with basecamp, I assume it's the 37 signals app? Yes I think it is a 37 sgnals app, they use someting like webcal:// I'm sorry im not an expert in this it is to import my milestones and to-do into my calendar installed on my computer >So to clarify just so I'm clear, you'd like to do the same features w/ basecamp, to do lists, milestones etc., but also communicate better w/ your business partners/book appointments etc. AND communicate w/ friends as well, is that correct? I would like to be able to import my basecamp milestones (appointment) into chandler (or other calendar program). Also be able to share my calendar with my friend/business partners. just share the calendar is fine with me it's like I go to Collection, Subscribe then I enter the URL with Mozilla calendar it's working wihtout issue. I really like chandler I think it is really neat and can fit all my needs, there is only this part that is not working. I really like it, only downside for now it's that I cannot import my basecamphq data into my calendar but looks like you guys are willing to take a look at it that is really nice of you. --- Based on 'collecting dog food feedback' list of questions: 1. what exactly they're trying to do, 2. why they're trying to do it, 3. what they're having trouble with, and if possible, 4. what they've already tried and had fail... Some thoughts after chatting with 'Leppy': + This person is located the east coast. + Educated, probably a Business Dev. Mng./Consultant, someone who does project scheduling/management. + Has used iCal, so is probably working on a mac. + Not a software engineer, but is pretty technically savvy, technology enthusiast as he's trying/using other software products. + Is up to date on technology that will 'help' him in his office life and personal life. |
