Hi Tom,

Thanks for taking the time to check out Alpha 3 and provide feedback. Please see response in-line below...

Hi all,

Just got Chandler 0.7 alpha3, very promising program.

Two suggestions

1) Easier feedback. In the programs help menu would be great.

Yes, absolutely. We're hoping to provide a Help menu when we the product stabilizes a bit more. Right now, we're depending on the release notes (read-me's) to clarify issues and providing support to early users on the list. So you came to the right place!

As a 'power user' if it takes more than a dozen or so seconds to find a way to try to help by giving feedback I'm likely to (a) get annoyed with the program and (b) give up. I think, for a 1.0 release, making people jump through hoops like mail subcriptions will result in a net loss for Chandler.

Agreed. At this point, we still far from a 1.0. We have set end of Q1 2007 for a Beta release.

2) At least provide the option for not hiding completed tasks.

If I can't remember if I finished a task, then not seeing it in Chandler is currently useless - I could have forgotten to enter it. But having it stay there as marked 'complete' would be brilliant.

We've anticipated some cognitive problems with the way tasks work and are constantly working on refinements to make the visual syntax more understandable.

The checkmark icon in the table is not a traditional checkmark. Checking and Un-checking an item means you are Adding it and Removing it from the Task list.

To mark a Task as DONE or to defer it to LATER, use the Triage status column on the extreme right.

This functionality is a bit better exposed in the latest trunk builds of Chandler: http://builds.osafoundation.org/

Feel free to take a look and come back with more thoughts!

Thanks,

Mimi
