iCal doesn't support bi-directional sharing of calendars via .ics files; iCal can either publish a calendar file (.ics) to a WebDAV server *or* it can subscribe to a remote .ics file, but iCal won't read in changes that have been made to a calendar that it has published. Otherwise I would have added such support in Chandler long ago (it's still on the to-do list). Things will be much nicer if/when iCal becomes a CalDAV client.
