Last week's activity on the design list... Priscilla sent out a last call for removing the "sharing server" tag line for the Cosmo logo. Priscilla has been working on updating the Cosmo wiki pages so they reflect the Cosmo/Scooby merge as well as updates to the Cosmo 0.5 plan. Priscilla also made some updates to the Cosmo planning page to reflect Cosmo/Scooby merge, hibernate work and a few other minor details that emerged from various meetings. Darshana posted a proposal for parsing date/time information in the command ui and stamping the items as events if appropriate. + Brian K responded that for email we are going to allow users to drag a mail message to an IMAP folder and we will filter it for date/time info and stamp it appropriately. + Jeffrey pointed out that Darshana's work would be an experimental parcel implementing features in parallel with the IMAP work. There would be some synergy between Brian and Darshana's work. + Brian replied that there was some miscommunication. After talking with Darshana there was agreement that a mail message, if stamped should be parsed to try and determine the start/end time. There won't be any automatic parsing of all email messages received. + Markku brought up a good point that many emails have tags like "[timestamp] xxx wrote" but this isn't necessarily an event. + Darshana replied that we would only parse the body of the current email not earlier emails to get around this issue. Matthew posted about emailing event information in Cosmo. There has been quite a bit of discussion on the lists about how to implement the "mail to" link to notify users of a new or modified event. The initial design was to simply launch the user's email client and create a new message pre-populated with the event details. Matthew felt is was worth considering other options like server-side support to email information through Cosmo. He outlined the pros/cons of the various alternatives. Jeffrey sent out an email letting people know that he had implemented to drag items onto the mini calendar which would stamp it as an event on the day you drop the item to. Philippe sent out a proposal that we allow the use of the translation egg for English. He had run into some issues with his French localized egg. Continued discussions: John posted a last call on the sidebar icons. We are still iterating but will likely stick with the current proposal and consider improvements to the overlay icon. |
