Based on the time-zone discussion, I wanted to pull this out of time-
zone thread for everyone to be able to comment on this specific
proposal.
My original proposal is when a Chandler user sends their ticket/URL,
the CC should be able to click on the ticket/URL and when viewing the
calendar collection in the 'Not logged into Cosmo', it should always
be in the time-zone the Chandler user sends it as. As if the calendar
information is mirrored on the web browser. ie. The calendar canvas
time-zone and the individual events also should be in the time-zone
the Chandler user set them as.
The problem with the original proposal is that the time-zone
information is not stored on the URL/ticket.
What if any user signs up for a Cosmo account, they have to pick a
working time-zone as part of sign up. This includes signing up for a
Cosmo account for Chandler too. This would mean all Cosmo accounts
would have a working time-zone. When a Casual Collaborator user
without a Cosmo account clicks on a URL/ticket, the working time-zone
used is from the Chandler user's Cosmo account to set the default
time-zone on the calendar canvas. If an account is in floating time-
zone, give it a working time-zone so it's still possible to figure
out where to put individual events with time-zones.
If a CC has a Cosmo account and subscribes to a Chandler user's
calendar collection, use the time-zone specified by the CC instead of
the Chandler user's Cosmo account.
*Not logged into Cosmo*
+ Uses the time-zone based on the Chandler user (the publisher's)
Cosmo account information. --Is this possible?
*Logged into Cosmo*
+ As part of sign up, the user would manually select a time-zone.
+ User can still decide to turn time-zone support on or off, but as
part of sign up there is a 'default' time-zone.
+ Floating time-zones should also have a 'working' time-zone so it's
possible to figure out where to put the individual events with time-
zones. --may need clarification of this is possible?
