Do we want to disable the 'Remove' & 'Save' buttons or would it be better to not even have it appear? There needs to be an no edit icon on the top right of the event details (of a pencil w/ a strike through–see enclosed icon from iCal) If a user tries to click into a form field and starts to create an edit, perhaps we can prompt an error dialog to say this is a read only calendar. This would also appear if the user tries to move an event on the calendar canvas.

Removing the buttons completely is definitely an option -- although when users are looking at different collection subscriptions, and some of them are read-only, it might look weirder for the buttons to disappear and reappear than just to disable. What do you think?

The error dialog when clicking into a form field sounds like it might be a good idea. I don't think we need that for moving/resizing, since the pointer is not a move/resize pointer, and dragging has no effect anyway -- the lozenge itself won't move or resize.
