Mimi and I had a conversation about the specifics for the 'Advanced Features' in the settings dialog. The Advanced Features area is to provide a direct access for admins/file browsing.

This was the original thread: http://lists.osafoundation.org/ pipermail/design/2006-December/005868.html

Here is the current proposal in the settings dialog:

*Advanced*
When logging into Cosmo, take me directly to:
(x) Calendar
( ) User accounts list [ONLY APPEARS IF USER IS AN ADMIN] [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN]
( ) Home directory browser

[ ] Provide access to User accounts list from Calendar [ONLY APPEARS IF USER IS AN ADMIN] [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN] [ ] Provide access to Home directory browser from Calendar [CHECKED BY DEFAULT IF USER IS AN ADMIN]

-- Note: some options may appear when the user is an Admin. Terms may also change, as they are being discussed in another thread on the design list: http://lists.osafoundation.org/pipermail/design/2007- January/006031.html

There are currently two mock ups on the wiki page. Ideally we'd like to see the 'Advanced' features in a separate tab, but if the first proposal (show/hide) is easier to do for 0.6, that's fine too. I'll be updating the 0.6 spec in the next few days.
