That all sounds fine Brian. Could you take a whack at the verbiage and I'll take a second pass at it. That worked well for me in the Account dialog stuff.

Forwarding this to the design list to discuss there.

So Brian, what would be involved? Perhaps we could put this in the Demo menu?

Demo>>Turn on Chandler IMAP server
Spits out a dialog with:
+ Explanation of what this does and how to use it
+ Account settings for how to point to Chandler from your mail client

So then would we set up the same 3 folders? Chandler Mail, Chandler Tasks, Chandler Events?

Yes the folders would be the same.

However, a 4th folder would also be present since the Inbox is required by the IMAP RFC.

The Inbox would contain a welcome type message explaining how to use the chandler folders feature. The Inbox would be read only and would not allow any new or copied mail to be placed in it.

The Chandler folders (Chandler Mail, Chandler Tasks, Chandler Events) would all function the same as the current design.

The additional features the Chandler IMAP Server would prevent would be creating folders, deleting folders, subscribing to folders, unsubscribing to folders. etc.

I have 90% of the implementation done.

If Mimi has time to help design how best to fit the feature in to the Chandler
UI I think it
could get in for Preview.

We would support the following clients:
1. Apple Mail
2. Thunderbird
3. Outlook
4. Outlook Express
5. Evolution
6. Mulberry
