Katie just reminded me of the following case: What happens if a
Desktop user is subscribed to a read-write share, but has no
account information filled out? What do we display?
For non-message, read-write shared items:
+ User name associated with 1st Sharing account; if there are no
Sharing accounts;
+ Email address associated with 1st Outgoing mail account; if
there are no Outgoing mail accounts;
+ Email address associated with 1st Incoming mail account; if
there are no Incoming mail accounts;
+ Show Created by/Edited by: Chandler User on xxx
I assume "xxx" stands for the name of the shared collection?... or
something else?
Note that for the other readers sharing "xxx", this is equivalent
to "Anonymous" and "on xxx" is merely redundant. So may be we can
make things more simple and use "Anonymous" (or "Chandler User") as
a default identity rather than building a specific one for each
shared collection. So I'm proposing to cut the "on xxx" here.
Won't we already have 'on xxx date/time' logic for users with no
account information on non-shared items?
+ Nice to have: While the user editing an item, Created by/Edited
by: Chandler User is an editable field where the user can identify
themselves.
We'll need to tackle this problem of identity along with contacts
(one's identity being the "me" identity and being shared with
others) after Preview. I'm wary of adding too much special logic to
cope with something and have to rip it out once we get the real
solution later. So I'd vote with a "suck it up" for that one and
start working on contacts soon after Preview...
Sounds reasonable.
Cheers,
- Philippe
