Hi,
While we're at it, just thought I'd clarify why I proposed the
wording for C:
+ I wanted to make clear what was *not going to being kept in sync*
with the server: The contents of the imported .ics file.
- A: 'Changes made to this calendar' could either refer to the
imported calendar or to the calendar the user is viewing in the Hub UI.
- B: Sounds like the act of 'Importing' is not being kept in sync as
opposed to the contents of the import.
+ Conversely, I wanted to make clear what it was on the server that
was *not going to be kept in sync* with the contents of the
imported .ics file.
- A: Doesn't specify an 'object' for the syncing action.
- B: Specifies Chandler (Hub? Desktop? Server? Project?) as the
object for syncing as opposed to 'the shared collection on Chandler
Hub or Server).
But in the end, most people probably understand that importing
doesn't keep data in sync. :)

*This is a low priority issue* …but we need some help with phrasing
on the collection details dialog.
When the user selects subscribe with 'download calendar and task…'
from the drop down menu. The instructions currently say in 0.6.1:
'Save this calendar as an .ics file to your desktop. Import the
file into your favorite calendar application.'
Suggested text:
*A*
Download this calendar to your desktop as an .ics file and import
the file into your favorite calendar application. Changes made to
this calendar will not be synced.
*B*
Save this calendar as an .ics file to your desktop. Import the file
into your favorite calendar application. Importing the .ics file to
your favorite calendar program will not be synced with
Chandler.
*C*
Save this calendar as an .ics file to your desktop. Import the file
into your favorite calendar application. Imported .ics calendar
files will not be kept in sync with the shared collection on
Chandler Hub.
*D*
None of the above. Do not need to inform the user that .ics files
are not kept in sync—they would know if they are importing .ics
files or can find out in the help/faq docs.
My apologies if this low priority issue is distracting. I'm just
trying to go through any open design issues on the bug list
targeted for 0.7.
I'll be sending out a last call by end of the week, no need to
dwell on the small issues. ;)
Thanks, -Priscilla
