We have decided to deal with this issue piecemeal.
I have de-prioritized bug 9065: Fix the order in which events are
auto-triaged to DONE on import and subscribe (assuming Triage Status
is not shared), to a P3: https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/
show_bug.cgi?id=9065.
We concluded that the 'random' sub-sort order was merely confusing
and that users had a way to work around this issue by sorting on the
Date column.
I have kept bug 8939: Re-address the way the LATER section is sub-
sorted, targeted to Future. https://bugzilla.osafoundation.org/
show_bug.cgi?id=8939
It will be interesting to see if anyone runs into this as a
dogfooding issue.
Note: There is a dependency between bug 9065 and 8939. If my some
miracle, we get around to doing 9065 for Preview, then the behavior
described for the DONE section (sub-sort DONE items on the date
displayed in the Date column) should also be applied to the LATER
section. However, if both 9065 and 8939 happen post-Preview, than the
LATER section should sort differently from the DONE section. (Hope
that's not too confusing. It's a matter of staging.)
