mention them in our chat.]
Matthew and I chatted briefly via Skype and here's an update on where
we're at:
We agreed to downgrade the spec process for Preview and work in a
more iterative style. I will try to pull hi-res comps for the UI for
the styleguide (just to give a rough idea of the general direction we
want to head in), but won't be doing hi-res mockups for workflows and
storyboards. I will then work with Matthew one on one to iterate on
what he builds and base design tweaks on what he has working.

linked off the 0.7 planning page.)
Next actions.
1. I will be looking at ui.css to figure out what we can do to unify
the type treatments for Preview. I'm sure I will be bugging Matthew
with more questions, but the immediate next action is for me to
familiarize myself with what he's done thus far. This includes both
classifying type treatments for copy-text as well as link styles, etc.
2. I will take a pass at producing the buttons from the Cosmo
Styleguide wiki page. This includes the new logo, toolbar and action
buttons and confirmation buttons.
3. I will rework the header Login links area a bit to come up with a
design that will take less tweaking to implement.
4. I will take a look at PimMessageResources.properties to figure out
what we can do to unify the copy across the web and desktop UIs.
We reviewed the Detail View and discussed a few interaction tweaks
Re: Opening and Closing the Stamping Sections: We've decided to
optimize for the following scenarios:
+ Open the section when users stamp.
+ Close the section when users unstamp.
+ Provide a way to close/hide the section, even if the stamp as been
activated.
For preview, we're not going to iterate on the interaction design
very much. Two issues we already know about, but can live with for
Preview include:
+ Arrow widget for opening and closing the stamping sections is small
and hard to click on.
+ When a stamping section is closed, users can't see any of the
information. It might be nice to provide a concatenated summary of
the stamping metadata, even in the 'closed' state.
Tweaks we will do for Preview because they're relatively small:
+ Automatically open the stamping section when users stamp
+ Automatically close the stamping section when users unstamp
+ Remove the Stamp icons to reduce the # of UI elements in the DV
+ Change the text to read: Address item, Add to calendar, Add to task
list.
From a screenshot Matthew sent me, he has a lot of the new DV laid
out. What still remains:
+ Adding in the Task stamp
+ Moving the Title and the Description fields to the top of the DV,
outside of the Address and Calendar stamping sections
+ Rename the Description field to Notes?
+ Add in the byline
+ Make byline an editable field if Chandler Hub user edits the item
+ Add in the Appears in: field
Am I missing anything Matthew?
