Could we also satisfy this use case by supporting multi-select and
delete? That way users can be really explicit. Select all the items
in a collection and delete in a single step. I wonder if that might
be more straightforward than negotiating all these different was to
delete.

This would make it easy to force items to be deleted, which can be
very useful at times.
