Hi Andrew, Thanks for the detailed feedback in bug 9513. Probably this level of discussion is best on the chandler-design list, so I'm moving it over.

I grab you guys collectively by the ears and > kiss you on the cheeks! (Had enough?) Thank you, thank you! That's really lovely to hear, such positive feedback feels great! Don't hesitate to give negative feedback, too :) In a nutshell, Andrew's feedback was that it was worrying to have lozenges be completely hidden. When I explained this is temporary (it happens because we try to put the most recent selections on top), he made lots of interesting suggestions: Alpha blending ============== I think soon after OSAF releases Preview we'll start using alpha channels in the calendar UI, a relatively simple enhancement would be to lower alpha slightly for conflicting and dragged lozenges. The availability of alpha compositing on all platforms is a relatively recent addition, we've been looking forward to taking advantage of it but polishing other areas has taken higher priority in recent months. I'm not sure exactly how we'd want to use alpha in the calendar, what goals would we be trying to achieve by using less-than-full opacity? Changing indentation levels based on selection ============================================== It would definitely be possible to recalculate indentation levels to put the most recently selected lozenges farthest to the right. But I wonder if this could possibly be unsatisfyingly jittery as lozenges move around somewhat unexpectedly? Preview area ============ The preview area (above the minicalendar) renders "Today's events" when you're in calendar view, on the theory that you can see other days' events better in the calendar. But in list view, it renders whatever day you select in the minicalendar (if you want more information on an event in the preview area, you can double click on it to go to Calendar view with that event selected). This feature isn't especially easy to find out about, we hoped that labeling the preview area differently in the different views would hint at this behavior. Do you have ideas for ways to improve the feature (or its discoverability)?
