I wasn't knocking Ecco, I still use it virtually daily for note taking.
But I was on EccoPro Yahoo group for several years, up until a few months
ago, and I know that most users there were very explicit about what they
expected from an "Ecco replacement". There have been a number of pitches
made to them over time by developers of various tools who felt that they
could replace Ecco, and they were all blown off because they weren't
"getting it" what the essential capabilities were.
My point was that Chandler right now can't serve as an Ecco replacement,
so in my view there isn't anything really to sync between the two and the
OSAF resources would not be well spent by developing an Ecco-Chandler sync
conduit. Do you think otherwise?

P.S. I haven't heard of slangmgh before, I was referring to
"yoursowelcomethanks". But it's cool to see that so much work is still
being done on Ecco.

Re: [Design] Import Export supported client versions
This EccoPro group has been loyal to the peculiar features of EccoPro
through all the wish list exercises of the last decade -- including
Chandler.
Slangmgh is currently doing enhancements on the dependencies
between child and parent items, formatting of the text for transfer,
and systematic presentation of the work he has accomplished to
the group. Reportedly the Y2K bug in tickler announcements has been
taken care of.
Since EccoPro still synchronizes with Palm Devices, Skype phones, USB
memory
units, and web maps we feel fairly proud of simple survival of a 'Best
Practice' piece of software. I suspect the 3500 body count for the
EccoPro list and 350 body count for the Ecco_pro list is as large as
Chandler's current body count. I have not heard much about university
consortium activity lately.
Networked EccoPro will always be small in numbers of participants --
probably on the order of 5 to 20 users on one net -- in comparison to
what Chandler is trying to do.
Do not lightly discard a group of dedicated PIM users - they have been
waiting for Chandler for at least 5 years. They do recognize the virtues
of a tight connection to email implied in Chandler.
I submit the following list of changes - all taking place in 2007 - to
show
a rather remarkable level of activity.
Enjoy!
