Sorry for replying so late, this thread got buried somehow in my client.
Mikeal, can we subscribe to a CALDAV url today in Chandler
Desktop without filling out a sharing account? (I thought we could.)
Morgen, could we have a 'CalDAV' option in the Sharing account
pulldown? It wouldn't really be an account pulldown anymore...We
could rename Sharing account to be Share via: or Share with: (This
sounds like post-preview work.)
I think I'm less worried about the terminology. Chandler has a lot
more functionality than a Calendar client so I don't think our
menu structure can be (expected to be) the same. I'm betting that
for most people, 'Share' will be a more discoverable place to find
subscribing and publishing than Collection or Calendar even.
You can subscribe, you just can't publish. Our subscribe option is
very smart and figures out if you're subscribing to a caldav or
webcal or chandler sharing url.
Although the options for subscribe and publish are in the same place
their behavior is very different. Subscribe allows you to subscribe
to any arbitrary calendar/sharing url, if you need authentication for
that collection it will prompt you. Publish requires that an account
is enabled before you can push data anywhere.
Another thing I'd like to note is that Chandler can't publish a
single collection to multiple locations. I for one would like to
publish to hub.chandlerproject.org and to an apple sharing server
since they support scheduling, and I could leave up a chandler
desktop instance at home to sync between the two locations. But this
feature has post-Preview all over it :)
