Why am I sending this to the Design List?
Graphical User Interfaces for widgetry and functionality is not
enough. The content that we work with should be more graphical. The
reason why we're feeling overloaded by too much information is
because we're trying to consume all of it as text. We are built to
process lots of information...but as images, not text.
Perhaps that's another reason why myspace is more compelling than
email for Gen Y and younger. In addition to being more fun, pictures,
video, music and text combine to create a more efficient way to keep
up with friends than text-based email.
