I've pulled together a similar page for Hub UI Month View and Overlays. Again, this is a list of a 'bare minimum' pass we can implement to get a useful version of features out to users as quickly as possible.

I've taken Reid's notes and taken a pass at phasing month / multi- week calendar view: http://chandlerproject.org/Notes/MonthView

(I've had a similar conversation with mde about Month View for Cosmo as well. I will summarize that in a different thread. But much of this applies to Cosmo as well.)

There are many cool and interesting things we can do with the calendar canvas, in particular, creating a more flexible, seamless viewing and navigation experience where you can zoom in and out of looking at a single day, multiple days, a single week, multiple weeks, a month, etc... If/when we get to this point, we're no longer talking about day, week and month views. We're talking about the calendar as a map of time and giving people the ability to explore and walk that map.

In the meantime...we're focused on meeting user needs quickly so phase 1 of Month View is limited to providing people with a way to 'view' their calendar data by Month.

This addresses 'I need to view stuff by month' scenarios like:
+ I use the calendar to keep track of travel schedules and they almost always span weeks. + I don't have very many events (maybe 3-5 per week) and I really think of my schedule at the 'month-level' not by week.

Phase 2 addresses navigating between Day, Week and Month view and adding in-place editing ability. This gets at a wider range of planning scenarios.
