Hi,
For one thing, since the order of the collections on the Hub is not
modifiable (AFAIK at least) and is the result of their creation order, I
see little value in forcing this order to the Desktop user.
Second, the other thing is that it is not uncommon to have on one's
Desktop is a mixture of Hub, subscribed and local collections. I'll
venture my own set as a user example here:
- I have 14 collections on my Desktop (well, 16 now that Chandler
decided to auto restore 2 tests collections I want to keep but would
prefer not to sync... but that's another issue...)
- 3 of those I published on my Hub account (Perso, Work, 0.7.x Schedule)
- 5 I subscribed to from a variety of accounts/sources (Office Calendar,
Family, Strategy, Chandler Evangelize, Horan-Bossut)
- 6 are local only (hodge podge of personal and work related things)
How could imposing the order of my 3 hub collections (which BTW, doesn't
correspond to anything I like) help me in organizing these 14
collections? I'm puzzled. Note that I have work and personal stuff in
all 3 categories here above mentioned so sorting by
"Published/Subscribed/Local" won't help me much either.
What I really need is a way to reorder the collections in my Desktop
sidebar the way I want. I also want to reorder collections on the WebUI
and those 2 order are likely to be unrelated since they don't even cover
the same set of collections.
Cheers,
- Philippe

Forwarding bug to the list.
What would it mean to keep the 'order' of collections in sync between
Hub and Desktop?
What's the order if the user has multiple sharing accounts and/or only
a subset of Hub collections synced on their Desktop client? (Hopefully
this will *not* be the common case.)
Can we order collections as 'best we can' and skip over missing
collections? See example below.
Hub 1
****D**
****3**
****A**
B - Not synced on Desktop
Hub 2
/_2_/
/_1_/
4 - Not synced on Desktop
Desktop
****D* - Shared on Hub 1*
**3* - Shared on Hub 1*
/_2_ - Shared on Hub 2/
****A* - Shared on Hub 1*
/_1_ - Shared on Hub 2/
C - Not shared

Bug council targets 0.7.future.
Per bug council discussion:
Mimi this needs to be discussed on the list as there is no current
Cosmo api
for this, and other issues such as what the order would be if Chandler is
subscribed to multiple servers.
