Thanks for your bug. What version of Ubuntu do you use? .recently_used uses xml,
applications are supposed to escape the "&" char when writing it. Do you have an
application breaking it? The is an know issue (bug #18185) with openoffice by
example. egg-recent (which is used by gnome-panel) has been fixed upstream to
just ignore the file instead of crashing too
