Description:
On initial reboot this message pops up in a warning(?) windows which must be
manually closed.

Synaptic finds a package named gamin - 0.1.7-2ubuntu1. There is no "fam"
package that I can find with synaptic.
A quick search gives this at the top of google...

... the net seems littered with archived emails about FAMOpen() failed
messages.
This is a brand new install on my old Compaq EvoN150, which runs great
on dapper.
