Comment: Whoa, your /dev/ directory looks like a static one. What did you do to poor udev? With udev not running, the device nodes are in group 'disk', which means that hal cannot access them (they need to be in group 'plugdev' for removable drives). Also, your kernel does not recognize a partition table on the iPod. That might be normal if there really aren't any partitions, but looks suspicious.
