You have been subscribed to a public bug:
Uploading files to web host ( 34sp, possible broken PASV setup) Nautilus
hangs during file transfer & is only stoppable through kill.
The hanging-transfer is reproducible under other FTP programs (e.g.
gFTP), however here it is possible to switch on/off PASV mode and
stop/reset the transfer.
Under Nautilus (using Places->Connect to Server) the transfer stops with
no means to exit. Cancel button is locked & Close is ineffective. Only
way to exit program is to xkill it.
Timing of freeze may be random or related to particular files.
