It's served by Samba 3.0.10 (should update that, I know...).

I don't have a Windows system here, which I could use to serve
something.

But note that I don't suspect the problem to be on the server's side, as
it was just working fine with my Ubuntu Breezy installtion.

I tried downgrading libgnomevfs2-extra to the previous version
2.13.92-0ubuntu4 (had to use ``dpkg --force-depends''), but nothing
changed.  What other packages should I downgrade?


And perhaps more informative: how can I get nautilus to show some error
messages?
