Public bug reported: https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/35217
Affects: gdm (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I track Dapper. I did an apt-get upgrade today, rebooted, and was unable to log in. After I entered my username and password, I'd briefly see the first text console, and gdm would show me the login prompt again. I tried logging into /dev/tty1 and using startx, and that's where I got an error message mentioing something about being unable to create an authentication socket in /tmp because the disk was full. sudo apt-get autoclean fixed things. It would be nice if gdm could tell the user when the session fails because there is no free disk space in /tmp. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
