Comment:
The "focus stealing prevention" is a feature. It avoid having windows popping
on top of what you are doing and break your workflow (like if you are typing
some text or a password it'll keep beeing at the right place and you will not
send your password because a gaim dialog just jumped while you where using an
another application)
If you have some issues in normal cases with application please open a bug on
the application with the detail about how you start it
