Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools
I was testing the feisty beta last night on my home computer (64 bit)
and wanted to create a new user just to see what the default desktop
looked like, so I went to 'System->Administration->Users and Groups' and
created a new user. Logged out and tried to log in as the new user, but
it wouldn't let me. Figuring I had mistyped the password I re-logged in
as my normal user and opened up users-admin again. The new user wasn't
listed. I re-created the account, closed users-admin, then re-opened it
(I think) and the user was still there. Logged out and still couldn't
log in as the new user. Logged back in, opened users-admin and the user
wasn't listed again. I looked at /home and there was a home folder for
the user, with the correct group, but the owner was listed as 1002.
I was able to add a new user via the command line (adduser) with no
trouble however.
This may be a dupe of Bug #95103, but I just tested the users-admin tool
on my (up to date) edgy machine and did not experience the bug.
