I have not been able to reproduce this crash on a Gutsy machine I updated yesterday, 8-21-07. I fiddled around in gnome-appearance- properties for quite some time, systematically changing various settings on each page. The only inconsistency I noticed is that the thumbnail representation of the desktop image I have selected is wrong, the size is nowhere near correct.
