Unlike ligatures in english (such as in ff and fi), in Arabic
they are mandatory. I'm going to post a screen shot comparing
the wrong treatment of ligatures in Ooo, with the right one
in gedit, using a font from the ttf-arabeyes package.
Note the fathah (the small dash-like sign) sitting at the top
by itself. Gedit got this right, where the fathah rightly sits
on top of a carrier letter.
** Affects: pango1.0 (Ubuntu)
Importance: Medium
Status: Incomplete
