You're right it's probably because of compiz-fusion. Currently I've been using CF "compiz 1:0.5.2-0ubuntu4" from "deb http://download.tuxfamily.org/3v1deb gutsy eyecandy" repository. Even during writing this email it has also happened and this time also hanged computer. I had to reset my laptop. (fortunately this email draft has been written down)
