This is still present in Gutsy. It seems clear that ALSA isn't going to be fixed, so it's time we think about hacking around it.
The Gnome volume control app should manually set the device to muted when turned all the way down, rather than just setting the volume to 0. What's very curious about this is you can get some weird behavior. Open up a movie in totem, then turn your system volume to 0. You'll still hear sound. But, strangely, that sound will then get quieter when you lower the totem volume, even though in theory everything should be "muted." ** Also affects: gnome-applets (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: kdemultimedia (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Sound still comes out of speakers when PCM volume is set to 0. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/16454 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-applets in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
