Public bug reported:
If one wants to add a font to gnome... it's ridiculously hard at the
moment!
You could try system --> settings --> appearance --> fonts --> advanced -->
goto font folder.
This is not what normal user would expect! ever! well i didn't.
Searching forums gave finally the answer: just type fonts:// to nautilus!
What? really? developers??
Ok, it's at least a expected place, but no one could ever try that on first
time.
So I really, really wish for font book or my fonts app to control panel, and
thus ability to install system wide or user fonts
(which according to forums is possible). Application should also check for
crc:s in ttf, as sometimes those occur in downloaded fonts.
The best, obviously, could be that this wish is heard and we get "font
book" or "my fonts"
Cheers,
Petri Järvisalo
