Binary package hint: gnome-panel
"Columns" preference for switcher doesn't work. For either a horizontal
or vertical panel, it increases the number of ROWS. There is no way
decrease the number of columns to 1 when the panel is vertical. This
results in the block corresponding to each workspace being only a few
pixels high on widescreen display.
